Connecting to Content Repositories with Apache Lucene Connector

Apache Lucene Connector today entered “incubation” at Apache. This is great news for those working with content repositories such as Microsoft Sharepoint, EMC Documentum, and open source technologies such as Apache Jackrabbit (based on the JCR standard).

As the volume of content grows, many organisations find their content locked away in separate “content silos”, with different access protocols or supported applications for each. The Lucene Connector Framework is designed to allow the Lucene search crawler to index content across many different respositories, thereby breaking down the silo effect.

One repository type conspicuously absent from the list of target respositories is JCR– it would be great to see that added.
